  • Irony means a contrast between expectation and reality. This is an example of irony because the man is not actualy saying that the weather is great therefore it is a contrast between expectation and reality.
  • I have to keep practicing soccer so that I can become a professional athlete!!
  • An Idiom is when a group of words established by usage as having a meaning different from the literal wordsThis is an example of an idiom because she is telling the child to slow down not actually hold his horses.
  • Foreshadowing

  • An allusion is a reference to a well-known person, place, event, literary work, or work of art. For example, the picture is referencing to scrooge who is always unhappy therefore showing that she is being like scrooge because she does not want to go to a party.

  • Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. For example, The boy in the picture is motivated to keep practicing soccer because he wants to be a professional athlete.
  • Foreshadowing is when the use of hints and clues to suggest what will happen later in a plot.The is an example of foreshadowing because The big dark clouds were foreshadowing that it was going to rain.

  • An inference is a conclusion one can draw from the presented details; educated guess.This is an example of inference because you can infer that the dog was the one who broke the TV because of the presented details (the dog jumping on the stool. right next to the TV.)
