- King Richard suggests to the Sherriff of Nottingham to hold an archery competition to trap Robin Hood. To make it impossible to refuse, the prize is to be a very impressive golden arrow
- Robin Hood tells his followers of the competition, some are sceptical but Little John plans that they wear disguises so that the Sherriff won't recognise them
- On the day of the competition, the Sherriff doesn't see Robin Hood or any of his merry men, but they are there just in disguise

- Robin Hood wins the Competition and the golden arrow
- Robin Hood and his merry men return home triumphant against the Sherriff.
- Robin Hood and his merry men send a message to the Sherriff confirming it was him who won the competition
