Storyboard Text

  • The Taino people lived in the Caribbean and traded throughout it. Since they lived near the ocean, they fished a lot and ate many ocean animals. In their culture, they strove to feed all of their people and never have anyone starve.
  • This is where the Taino would fish and collect the seafood that they ate. Since they lived in the Carribbean, they lived in a warm climate.
  • Living in a warm climate meant that the Taino made things that were because of that climate.
  • They made hammocks to rest in, huts to live in, and lived in small clean villages. They also wore rather revealing clothing since it was warm.
  • The Taino people built their homes from palm trees, and built other things using palm trees too.
  • Like many other Native tribes, the Taino used the resources around them to make things. They also respected their resources, and their animals and food sources.
  • The Taino didn't have many wars, they were a very peaceful group of people. They had systems of government that maintained harmony between human and natural enviroments.
  • As for the Taino peoples religion, they had many ceremonial dances. They believed that their ancestors should be remembered and celebrated.
