- Bernard plan a social reunion, all wishing to meet John. The Arch- Community- Songster of Canterbury were expecting to meet John, but John refuse to assist. The Arch- Community- Songster was angry and many people were present during that quarreling. In another hand, Lenina though that John do not want to meet her, she was determine to confess how she felt to him but leave with the Arch-Community-Songster and pass the night with him.
- Bernard then blame John that because of him he was ridiculed and embarrass in front of all. John, was mad because he felt he was a slave and was disgusted and absurd with the Brave New World, so he said that he rather be unhappy instead of lying to others.
- Helmholtz and John meet each another, and Bernard feel that he shouldn't have present he friend to John because he was jealous that Helmholtz give a friendship to John instead of criticizing him. John tell about Shakespeare to Helmholtz, then about Romeo and Juliet. But, Helmholtz laugh about it and this hurt John, so he lock the book away.
