- In the 9th Century the Chinese monks accedently made gunpowder when trying to make a life extending potion. When gunpowder is lit it explodes, this is now used in weapons and explosives
- Gunpowder is a mixture of saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal. Gunpowder explodes because it burns very fast and realesed gasses bigger in vollume resulting in a explosion when lit in a contained area. When the Europeans found out about gunpowder they added a liquid to it to make a paste that is now what is used in most guns and cannons
- Gunpowder is still used today in modern warfare and has changed warfare forever. Some examples of weapons that still use gunpowder today are the majority of firearms, artillery, rocketry, and pyrotechnics. Gunpowder is also used as a blasting agent in mining, quarrying and road building.
