- A monarchy is a government system in which there is a concentration of power by a hereditary ruler, such as a king or queen. The ruler of a monarchy is able to exercise this power and make decisions for the overall civilization.

- Aristocracy
- An aristocracy is a government system ruled by elite landowners. The landowners of Greece who made up the ruling positions of the aristocracy were also the military defenders of the city-states because they could afford the bronze weaponry and chariots.
- I am a wealthy landowner!
- Even though we are not kings or noble landowners, we are still wealthy and in power!
- An oligarchy is a government system where the power is in the hands of a small group of elite and wealthy citizens. The people ruling in an oligarchy are usually from the wealthier side of the middle class of a society.
- A direct democracy is a government ruled by the people of a civilization. A direct democracy aims to allow the voices of citizens to be heard and valued, and takes into account their desires for the state of the civilization rather than having power concentrated into one individual.
