  • THE WOMAN TURNED INTO A BIRD
  • The devotee of Jesus, Saint Peter, lived in the world below, preaching; came across a cottage. As he had been travelling the world and fasting for a long time, he was starving with hunger and thus became weak and started fainting. • When Saint Peter cursed her she became a woodpecker and flew through the chimney. The bird had a red cap on her head same as the women wore. All other clothes of the woman were burnt into ashes. When people in the countryside and children see this kind of bird, their elders tell them this story of the legend of Saint Peter and the miserly woman.
  • The poem 'A Legend of the Northland' by Phoebe Cary, conveys the message of generosity. The poet warns us not to be greedy. If God has given us every comfort then we should be thankful to him and help his people who are poorer than us or in need. (COMIC STRIP BY BHAVYA MALHOTRA, IX B)
