- I demand a crusade to free the Holy Land! SOldiers of Christ should go and defend Constantinople and liberate Jerusalem from the Turks!
- In 1095, Pope Urban II called a crusade to free the holy land and to have the soldiers of Christ defend Constantinople. The crusaders looted Constantinople. They also had to sew a cross on their clothing because it shows a vow to make pilgrimage for Jesus
- YAY!!
- STOP!
- On Christmas day in 1066, William was about to be crowned king when the Norman knights got so nervous that they panicked. They set fire to many near by houses outside. So inside the church the crinatin still went on even if there was murder and fire outside. It gave the ceremony a little kick and it really made it fit in.
- And I crown you, William, the Duke of Normandy to be the highest and new King!
- Outside of the church, they started cheering when William, Duke of Normandy was about to be crowned king. But the Normal knights misunderstood and started fires in peoples houses and attacked many people. But inside the church, the event was still going on and William got crowned. Once the crown got placed on his head, the church started being on fire. They thought that they could get rich by this.
- ATTACK THE NORTHERN CRUSADER STATE OF EDESSA!!!
- The crusaders attacked the northern crusader state of Edessa. The fall of that state made the pope so angry and alarmed that he called for another crusade. Even King Louis's wife joined the crusade.
- I AM SO ALARMED THAT I CALL FOR THE SECOND CRUSADE!!
- This is the second crusade where many people hurried to join the crusade. Estimated, there was about 150,000 people who hurried to join the group of crusaders. They left for the Holy Land and it was a mob of peasants. They thought that if they joined the crusade, they would get more money and be wealthy. But in the end, the second crusade failed because the crusaders leaders were arguing a lot. They also treated the muslim mayor poory and with disrespect.
- This photo is of clothed turks riding really fast on Arabian horses. Their speeds give them a big advantage. The red people are the Turks and the gray ones are the crusader knights. They like to wear heavy armor and riding large war horses.There was also a fight between the muslim and the christian armies that revealed their differences.
