- Hello my dear friend Antonio. It is I Bassiano. I apologize for my last loan but I am in desperate need of another.

I'll lend you thus much moneys?Fine, But on one condition if my money is not returned within three months then I will reclaim this bond in the form of a pound of your flesh.

- Antonio the 'Merchant'.I chose this scene as it sets up the plot and introduces some of the significant characters.
- WHY MY FORTUNE WHY!
- I will pay back the money he owes.NO! I will have my bond.
- Bassiano asks Shylok for the money and Shylok agrees, but on one condition. I chose to include this scene as the deal they made is a vital part in the story and needs to be highlighted as such
- 'This bond doth give thee here no jot of blood'
- The flesh must weigh exactly a pound. If Shylock sheds blood or the bloodless flesh weighs an ounce outside an exact pound then he will be tried for murder.
- Portia communicates her concerns about Bassiano choosing the wrong Casket as she truly loves him and wants him to win her over.This is an important scene as it shows the characters relationships.
- So where are our rings?
- It was us the entire time! We were disguised.
- Antonio assumes his ships have gone under, and his fortune with them. Bassiano has been arrested, Portia tries to bargain for his freedom but Shylock refuses.This scene is very important as it is some of the main conflict in the story.
- Portia and Nerissa dress up as a young lawyer and a clerk and disgrace and humiliate Shylock into leaving.I chose to do this scene as it is the solution of the conflict.
- The women reveal they were disguised, a messenger arrives and delivers good news about Antonio's ships. THE END.This scene demonstrates the importance between the relationships of the characters and the ending.
