- Ex. 17:8-9
- The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.
- Joshua, choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites.
- Ex. 17:9
- Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.
- Ex. 17:10-11
- Joshua and his men fought the Amalekites. Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As Moses held up his hands and they were winning...
- The Next Day...
- ...but every time Moses put his hands down the Amalekites were winning.
- Ex. 17:12-13
- When Moses' hands grew tired, Aaron and Hur gave him a stone to sit on and held his hands up. Moses' hands were steady until sunset.
- Keep it up, Moses! We're winning!
- Ex. 17:14
- Then the Lord said to Moses, Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely erase the Amalekites from under heaven.
