- Louis XVI has full control over the three estates. In 1789, Louis XVI called for the meeting of the estates general. The meeting's subjects include the economic, social, and political problems of 1789 France.

- They took the tennis court oath, enraged by Louis XVI rejection. The oath was to remain in place until France had a constitution. This was a defining moment in the french revolution because it was the first time the third estate directly confronted the king
