Storyboard Text

  • Today, we'll be learning about what happens when you exercise, or the circulatory or respiratory system.
  • So when you do a physical activity, or really anything. The respiratory system is always getting oxygen into your body. This is by having the lungs breathe in the surrounding oxygen and exhaling the carbon dioxide that the body can't use in return for the oxygen.
  • Upon the lungs taking air in, the diaphragm contracts and makes for room for the lungs. The opposite happens when the lungs exhale. Now the oxygen is then spread through out the body by the circulatory system.
  • So finally when you exercise, your lungs take in a lot of air in order to keep up with demand. Upon doing so, the oxygen goes into the blood vessels which need to be distributed. So the heart increases its beats in order to further distribute the oxygen in the body. Therefore, your heart rate increases.
  • The circulatory is mostly the heart and blood vessels. The blood vessels take in the oxygen the lungs give and spread it through the body. They can spread it through out the body because of the hearts constant beating.
