Storyboard Text

  • Hey there! I'm here to teach you about forces in driving a car.
  • Friction St.
  • See those arrows? They show the Newtons on forces. The right arrow is driving power and the left arrow shows friction and air resistance
  • Ignore those upwards and downwards arrow, I'll explain them slightly later!
  • Gravity café!
  • That upwards arrow is from a force called push. Push is a Normal Contact Force.
  • The downwards arrow is from gravitational force, this is what pulls you towards the Earth, Gravity is one of the only non-contact forces---!
  • By the way! Don't fall down, construction coming in 3 days.
  • Huh? Oh yeah! Now that I'm not moving the car, notice how all the arrows are the same size. Now is a good time to say about interaction pairs. Interaction pairs are two forces which balance each other out
  • An example of this is Push and Gravitational force. Interaction pairs are shown by the two opposite arrow, such as left and right, upwards and downwards.
  • Phew, managed to get out of there. Hmm? water resistance. Not to be confused with air resistance, it is a form of drag force, slowing a solid object down due to colliding with a large amount of liquid particles
  • Friction St.
  • I hope you learnt a lot about forces, goodbye!
