- The cows produce milk on a farm and in the population, one cow produces more milk than the others.
- Produced offspring
- The farmer notices that one of the cows produces a major more amount of milk than the other which means more profit for the farmer.
- Some have good traits
- The farmer decides to breed the cow that produces a lot of milk with another cow to get the offspring to produce more milk than normal.
- Eventually all carry good trait
- When the cows finally produce offspring they produce many calves and some of them have the desired trait.
- The calves grow up and some produce a lot of milk while some produce the regular amount of milk.
- As generations go on the desired trait in the cows that produce more milk are the only cows left and they all produce a lot more milk.
