- i was raised in a poor family in a small town, in 1932 i graduate from eureka university
- In 1980 he won the Republican nomination and defeated then-President James Carter with a difference of more than eight million votes, winning in 44 of the 50 states.
- As president he introduced bold new political and economicinitiatives. Its economic policy, rooted in the so-called supply economy, wouldbecome famous under the name of "reaganomics", characterized by thederegulation of the financial system and the substantial tax cuts implementedin 1981.
- In his first term, he survived an assassinationattempt, marked a hard line against the unions and also ordered military actionon the independent Caribbean island of Grenada, off the coast of Venezuela. Hewas reelected with a large majority in the 1984 elections
- Reagan's second term was marked primarily by foreignaffairs, the most important of which were the end of the Cold War, the bombingof Libya, and the revelation of the Iran-Contra scandal.
