  • THE DEATH OF KING CHARLES II
  • This is how the Glorious Revolution, by the death of King Charles II in 1685 by what might have been kidney failure
  • HERE LIES KING CHARLES II
  • When King Charles II died, he had no children, so his brother, James II, rose to the throne. Nobody really rejected him becoming king because they didn't want the problems that can come from the king dying without an heir, but the one problem with James was that he was Catholic

  • He fathered his first child, a daughter named Mary. Who later, in 1677, married William III, the Prince of Orange. Her husband and her will later mean a lot to the country of England.

  • ENGLISH BILL OF RIGHTS
  • In 1687, James II made The Royal Declaration of Indulgence that suspended all punishments against Protestants . Parliament said it was fake and not fair and James II banned them from meeting again till they agreed that they would never question his divine right again. Then in 1688, he had a son. This was a last straw for Parliament so they went to William III, Mary's husband
  • WE DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE!!!!!!
  • In 1688, James II had his first son. This terrified Parliament that England would become a Catholic Dynasty. Parliament wrote to William, Mary's husband, and asked him to intervene. in November, William launched an attack and the country turned on James. Within a month, James fled England and Parliament agreed to make William and Mary joint ruler of the throne.
  • William and Mary went on to sign a historical document, the English Bill of Rights just 3 months after taking the throne. This bill gave Parliament more control over the monarchy by guaranteeing Parliament's right to regular meetings, freedom of speech, guaranteed that citizens cannot be subjected to cruel or unusual punishment, and reestablish that only Parliament can tax the English people
