Storyboard Text

  • The flower waits in the field for the hummingbird to come and help pollinate.
  • The hummingbird lands on the flower to eat some nectar and pollen from the anther sticks to the hummingbird's wing.
  • The hummingbird travels from one flower to another to get more nectar and the pollen from the first flower brushes onto the stigma.
  • The pollen grain will travel down the pollen tube, located inside the style, and find an ovule, which is located in the ovary.
  • The sperm from the pollen will start fertilization and fertilize both the egg and the polar nuclei. The surrounding ovary can turn into fruit and be spread around the world.
  • The process starts over but with more flowers to choose from. The stamen from the flowers will produce pollen.
