- I understand your concern,John, but you cannot leave now because we are at war.
- Maybe they went to Croatoan
- What happened?
- CROATOAN
- ¿Roanoke?
- Unfortunately, England was at war with Spain, and White's ships were unable to leave England again.
- Go and bring a lot of gold!
- King, if you give us permission, we will bring you a lot of gold.
- Three years later, White finally returned to Roanoke. There was no trace of the settlers. Even their houses had disappeared. The letters CROATOAN were engraved on a post of a ruined fort. White concluded that the settlers had moved to theisland of Croatoan.
- I hope so, I'm tired of this life.
- My dear, now our life of misery is going to end.
- Before he could find out if he was right, the time broke down, and could not search the area. No one has ever discovered what happened to the colony.
- It was good to decide to live next to this river, we will not lack water or food.
- In 1606, King James gave permission to a group of rich men to found a colony in NorthAmerica. The group sent settlers to Virginia, hoping to get money from the Suburb.
- In April 1607, 105 settlers arrived in Virginia. Most of them hoped to get rich by finding natural riches such as gold.
- They chose a place near a wide river and built a settlement. In honor of King Jaime, they named it Jamestown (City of James).
