- Sam Gets His Grades

- I only got a seventy. there will be another test soon, how will I manage to ever bring up my grade?
- Everyone passed their test this week! Good job , please come to me with any questions at the end of class. Next week we will be testing this again and then using our knowledge for the next assignment.
- Sam feels Discouraged with a Fixed Mindset
- This class is so hard. I do not want to bother asking questions. Everyone will judge me and laugh.
- I did awesome. This was so easy. haha.

- Sam Notices His Difficulties
- There is so much homework, I don't even know where to start. I do not know how to do this. I think I should ask my mom what I should do and let her know my grade.
- The teacher announces the results of the whole class, and Sam feels upset about his grade, especially when noticing another student is sleeping.
- Sam Confides with a Close Adult
- Hey mom, I am having difficulties in class. There was a test we took and everyone else thinks that the material is so easy. I need some help with studying and it really is hard to do on my own.
- Its okay Sam, I am sure we can find a study method that may help you out. We can go over your materials to prepare you. Not everyone understands school work without studying and hard work. I'm sure your teacher can help too.
- His class mates are mentioning their understandings of the test. This leaves Sam thinking that he is not able to accomplish what his class mates are able to.
- Sam's Teacher Takes Notice and Action
- Hey Sam, I noticed that you seem to have a little bit of difficulties with our lesson. If you would like I have some extra resouces. Your mom also reached out to me. Anytime you need help with a lesson feel free to come and ask for help. You can also always ask questions. Some lessons may be easier for others, but do not feel discouraged.
- Thank you. I am starting to feel a bit better and I am understanding the information better now that I ask more questions. I now understand that it pays off to ask for help. Noe I get that not everyone finds studying to be easy.
- Sam takes notice of what he needs help with. He is still in a Fixed mindset but is gradually growing.

- Me too, I realize now that it takes communication and different methods of studying to do good on our work.
- Sam goes to a trustworthy adult, his mom. They discuss how he is doing in class. His mom suggests that studying is different for everyone. This gives Sam some hope and confidence, knowing that his mom is there to help him and she mentions that she talks to his teacher.
- Sam's teacher take notice to his concerns, and has communicated with his mom. They talk and she lets Sam know that everyone is different and that they will find a great way for him to do better in his classes.
- Sam ends up with a growth mindset. He knows that everyone has different ways of learning. He also knows that he can do better in class and that his strengths are different.
- I feel so much better after asking questions and studying differently about our lesson.
