- Ralph and Simon are occupied trying to build the tents for shelter and Jack isn't helping at all.

- Ralph and Jack argue over responsibility, and Jacks strange obsession with violence,
- All the children are having the time of their life not taking anything seriously, meanwhile Ralph is becoming more of a leader.
- Ralph tells Jack that none of his "hunters" are actually doing anything to help they're situation (except for Simon).
- We discover that Simon is a happy-go-lucky type of guy, and he looks more into the brighter side of the story (he's also hard-working)
