- Barnum and Charity meet while Barnum is working for her dad as a tailor. They start to hangout and end up falling for each other.
- Climax/Tightrope or Never Enough
- Barnum decides the start a circus and he uses "freaks: for his show. This song is Barnum telling the "freaks" to get confident and do the show with his.
- Falling Action/From Now On
- Carlyle went in with Barnum on the circus. When he got there he met one of the "freaks" Anne. It was love at first sight. This song is about how they want to be together but they can't without being judged.
- Resolution/The Greatest Show
- Barnum get very caught up in the circus to the point where that's all he cares about. Tightrope is about Charity being sad because Barnum is going off all kinds of places for fame and money and not spending time with his family.
- The circus burned down and Charity left Barnum. He is at a low, but this song is about how he is going to start caring more about his family and have Carlyle run the show.
- The show started back up and it was one of the greatest shows on earth. Barnum left the circus for Carlyle to be in charge and he goes and spends time with his family.
