  • Can I come over, Aman?
  • Yes.
  • I need to leave.
  • Okay.
  • It is okay. I called your parents about your disappearance from the poetry club.
  • My name is Xiomara and I will recite a poem.
  • We will work something out between ourselves, Xiomara.
  • I only know that learning to believe in the power of my own words has been the most freeing experience of my life. It has brought me the most light. And isn't that what a poem is? A lantern glowing in the dark.
  • Words give people permission to be their fullest self. Do not drop out of the Poetry Club.
