- I don't know why you black people have so many holidays. You have so many days that you claim are very 'important' to you all. What on earth is 'Juneteenth'?
- Juneteenth, or “Freedom Day” is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
- This holiday is considered the “longest running African-American holiday” and has been called “America's second Independence Day.” It is celebrated on the June 19, 1865.
- Even though it is said that black slaves were freed on the nineteenth of June, it wasn't right. Black slaves were told about being freed on the nineteenth and on the twentieth they were finally free.
- Juneteenth is a day filled with rodeos, parades and street fairs. At these events, you can expect music, performances and food. It is a really special day for u to celebrate our ancestors' freedom.
