Storyboard Text

  • I am William Marbury, and I was supposed to be given the job of the justice of peace in the District Of Columbia! However, Mr. James Madison decided to not deliver my commission after you had delivered all but 17 of the commissions. I demand that the Supreme Court issue a Writ Of Mandamus to force James Madison to do his job!
  • Mr. Marbury, although you have the right and remedy to your job, what you have sued it unconstitutional.
  • It is empathetically the province and duty of the Judicial Department to say what the law is. If the Supreme Court states that a law violates the Constitution, then the law cannot be put into effect. Therefore, the Supreme Court does not actually have the power to issue a Writ Of Mandamus. I am sorry to tell you, but this means you will not be able to receive your job.
  • I DON'T GET MY JOB!! WAAHHHH!
  • And that's how the case of Marbury vs. Madison ends! Marshall helped create a lasting balance between the three branches of government. And all this happened just because someone's papers didn't get delivered!
