  • The Cherokee was allies of the British during the French and Indian War
  • However when the Cherokee settlements were attacked by the french the SC colonies did not help
  • Fighting broke out between the Cherokee tribe and SC colonies
  • The royal governor of SC ended all tared with the Cherokee and took some as hostages
  • The Cherokee War lasted for 2 years with both sides suffering  major losses and ended in 1763
  • Cherokee was forced to give up there land and live in "Cherokee territory" west of SC colony
