With the invention of steam boats, life became easier. These boats could travel upstream with no problem. This led to people and goods transported along the rivers throughout the country.
Living/working conditions before the Industrial Revolution
Before the Industrial Revolution, people worked by gardening, weaving and raising small animals. Even though it wasn't easy, families worked together and were content on how they spend their days.

As everything began to industrialize, jobs were found in factories and working in coal mines.
The living and working conditions before the industrial revolution were overcrowded, poor sanitation, with wide spread disease and pollution. The cost of living was too high for people.
There are too many people living in one place
As industrialization began the living standards improved, people were able to move to the suburbs to make a better way of life.
