  • Weak Leadership of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
  • Why do they hate us so much?!

  • The weak leadership of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette led to the French people hating them, because of the unfair voting system, economic crisis, etc. Marie Antoinette would also spend money without caring, which was mainly the money of the people, which led to even bigger hatred towards them by the French people.
  • Women's March on Versailles
  • The Tennis Court Oath was made when the National Assembly swore in oath to stay in a local tennis court until they came up with a new constitution for France. The National Assembly was the new name that the Third Estate had given themselves during this time. King Louis XVI had been dealing with many financial problems, but did not want to agree to the constitution. But, when the Estates-General ended up agreeng to the new constitution, King Louis stubborningly decided to agree with it.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI
  • The Storming of the Bastille marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The Bastille was a royal fortress and prison that had come to symbolize the tyranny of the Bourbon monarchs. With this, the people armed and hungry for vengeance, stormed the Bastille. They then took the gunpowder and cannons they had in the fortress, and released it's prisoners, and marked the end of the Ancien Regime.
  • Reign of Terror led by Robespierre and Committee of Public Safety
  • The Woman's March on Versailles stripped away the remaining independence of King Louis XVI, ending France's absolute monarchy and ushering in a short-lived period of constitutional monarchy. The woman marched to the palace demanding food, and ended up taking Louis XVI back to Paris.
  • Come back to France Louis!!
  • Give us food and fix the bread prices!!
  • One day after being convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers and sentenced to death by the French National Convention, King Louis XVI is executed by guillotine in the Place de la Revolution in Paris. Shortly after King Louis was executed, his wife Marrie Antoinette, was also executed.

  • Down with the king!
  • The Reign of Terror was a time period after the death of King Louis where there was no strong government, but was led by a ruthless leader Robespierre. Robespierre was the head of the Committee of Public Safety, and he killed anyone that was even slightly against the revolution to better the Republic. In total, 17,000 people were beheaded during the Reign of Terror.
  • Your trial stated that you don't support the revolution,,, so you have to die now.
  • What?? I do support it! Please, I didn't mean to disagree with it! It was an accident!
