  • The TreatyOf Versailles
  • Dolchstosslegende
  • The Great Depression
  • After WW1 the Treaty of Versailles was signed between the victoriousallies and the defeated Germany in Paris 1919. This would mean that germanys military, army, air force and navy were all restricted enough so they couldn't start a war, Germany lost any territory that they had gained during the war, they had to pay for damages caused which would add up to $132 Billion and had to take responsibility for the war.
  • Fall of the Weimar Republic
  • The myth about the stabbing in the back was propagated by nationalists after 1918. According to this, it was socialists and democrats who were to blame for Germany's defeat in the First World War rather than the military and monarchical leadership of the German Empire. This had stabbed the undefeated army in the back.
  • Control of Children
  • The great depression was a worldwide crisis (but affected Germany the most as they still owed money which was at the time useless) caused by the Wall Street crash in 1929. This lead to homelessness, starvation, decrease in construction/manufacturing and left 6 million people unemployed. The Nazi Party started to draw much attention as they said they could put an end to all of the suffering and bring Germany back to power.
  • Propoganda
  • The Treaty of Versailles and The Great Depression proved to be too much for the Weimar Republic. It did not help that their population was so big in Germany and there was not enough money to spread around. Hitler took advantage of thesituation and got President Hindenburg to make him chancellor. Not long after, Hindenburg died and Hitler was able to make himself President. He was then able to start controlling Germany and increase the number of Nazi party followers.
  • Germany will be Great again!
  • Hooray!!!
  • Once Hilter and the Nazi party were at large, they started to think about their future. They started creating youth groups. In these groups children from young ages would learn the way of the Nazi's, learn how to fight, shoot a gun, throw genades and so one. They were introduced to Nazi ideology and forced to accept that the Nazi way was the right way. the Nazi's controlled what was taught in schools and were turning children into soldiers.
  • Hitler wanted the Nazi party to grow even more. His plan was to send a message to all the Germans saying why they should join him. These messages were spread by one of Hitler's most trusted associates Josef Goebbels. He spread the message through radio, posters, mass rallies and even things like art and statues. This led to hysteria and mass excitement among the Germans, people wanted to be involved in this New Germany.
