  • Welcome to my comic on the American Revolution! Hope you enjoy :D

  • The American Revolution began in 1775 as a result of the Americans getting frustrated and annoyed with the British who were ruling them at the time. One of the biggest factors was the many laws and acts that the British people were imposing on the Americans.
  • A lot of the acts that affected the Americans were acts that imposed many taxes and made citizens spend a lot of money. The Sugar Act of 1764 meant that there were taxes imposed on sugar and molasses. A stamp act that was created meant that all legal documents and papers had to be stamped, making each paper cost anywhere from a few cents to dollars more than they would have. This act was removed after there were many violent events.
  • That dumb British government! If only they would just leave us to rule our own land!
  • Similar to the Sugar Act, the Townshend Acts were created. Many goods (glass, tea, silk, paper, etc.) had a tax placed on them. As a result of sudden low interests in these items, the taxes were removed on everything but tea.
  • Another group of significant events that led to the American Revolution were the Intolerable Acts of 1774. These acts were a result of the Boston Tea Party. As I mentioned previously, the Townshend Acts were removed on everything but tea. In 1773, they passed the Tea Act which meant that the East India Company was the only company that was given rights to sell tea. After several inconvenient events, about 50 to 60 Bostonians disguised themselves as Native people and threw 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • As a result of the Boston Tea Party, the Intolerable Acts were created. 4000 soldiers were placed around Boston and no public meetings were allowed to be held. Around this time, the Quebec Act was created, making Quebec in charge of the Ohio Valley area. For the Americans, they felt that this was preventing them from expanding their territory. After a few more events, the American Revolution began and war broke out between the Americans and the British.
