- The peddler heard the sound of hammer strokes from an iron mill. when he got closer, he got attracted by the glowing lights.
- The iron master thought he was an old acquaintance. But the trap seller did not correct him as he might give a couple of kroner
- When the peddler entered the Ramsjo Ironworks, the master smithand his helper sat near the furnace waiting for the pig iron
- This moment the iron master came into the forge for his nightly rounds of inspections. He noticed the rat trap seller, came closer and looked at him carefully.
- Of course it is you, Nils Olof! How do you look!!
- Yes, god knows things have gone downhill with me
- You should not have resigned from the regiment. That was a mistake. If I had still been in the service at that time, it never would have happened. well now you will come with me.
