The Civil War started because of the divided opinion in the country. The Northern part of the country believed that oppressing humans because of color was wrong and the Southern States believed the opposite. They wanted to have the power over the people that they believed to be less important. Because of this division, more and more conflicts became apparent and this was the start of the Civil War.

Abraham Lincoln believed that slavery or owning humans was wrong and believed that emancipating slavery would benefit the country massively. Therefore he created the Emancipation Proclamation that stated that slaves in the Southern states were free. This didn't end slavery but was a key event that freed slaves to go to the Northern states to fight in the war.

Harriet Tubman served as a nurse and a spy during the war and also saved many people during the war by leading them to safety. She was a big role in the Union winning the war and finally abolishing slavery. This started to give people equal rights in the US.

Ulysses S. Grant was an American military officer that lead the Union to battles that were key to the win of the Civil War. He won the battle of Fort Henry which was one of the most significant battles in the war itself. He was a hero in the eyes of the people and contributed to the abolishing of slavery. He helped create an equal playing field for the citizens of the US by winning the war.
After the Civil War ended in 1865, there were some changes made in the United States. First of all, the Civil War abolished slavery which meant that colored people in the United States were free and equal. Also, the 13thh amendment was created after the war. Finally, the Civil War gave birth to the uniting of America once again.
