- From his royal throne in Persia's capital city of Susa, king Xerxes ruled over 127 provinces, all the way from India to Sudan
- Why don't you make a search to find some beautiful young virgins ? you can appoint officials in every province of the empire and order them to bring all these beautiful young girls and put them in the care of Hegai who is in charge of your women at let them be given the beauty treatment. Then take that girl let she be in Vashti 's place.

- After Queen Vashti left, the king's anger had cooled down, but he still kept thinking what queen Vashti had did to him.
- There in Susa there lived a Jew named Mordecai. He was from the tribe of Benjamin. He had a cousin, whose Hebrew name was Hadassah ; she was a beautiful girl , and a good figure . At the death of her parents Mordecai had adopted her as his own daughter.
- When the king had issued his new proclamation and many girls were being brought to Susa , Esther was among them. She too was put in the royal palace in the care of Hegai. Hegai liked Esther, and she won his favour . He lost no time beginning her beauty treatment. And he assigned ten girls to serve her.
- The regular beauty treatment for the women lasted a year massages with oil of myrrh for six months and with oil of balsam for six more. after that , each girl would be taken in turn to king Xerxes.
- The time came for Esther to go to the king. Esther was admired by everyone who saw her. She wore what Hegai advised her to wear.
