  • No, I am getting rid of you!! I need more power!!!
  • We are not doing anything for you again. All you want is money
  • Hey parliament!!! You should come back to set up a rebellion!! 
  • King Charles I went to parliament to raise taxes and they forced him to sign the Petition of Right. He agreed but then immediately dissolved parliament right after. 
  • King Charles returned to parliament in the hope of getting money to put down a puritan/protestant rebellion. Parliament thought otherwise.
  • Keep Sunday aside for religious causes!!

  • This problem caused the English Civil War between the Cavaliers a d the Round heads. The Cavaliers were supported by by the loyal nobles and was led by King Charles I. The Round heads were composed of country gentry, town-dwelling manufacturers, and Puritan clergy. Which also was led by Oliver Cromwell.

  • In 1647, the king was in the hand of the Parliament Forces. The King was put on trial and was sentenced to death. His death sent a big shock throughout Europe.
  • The House of Commons abolished the monarchy and the house of Lords. Oliver Cromwell took over and claimed the name, Lord Protector. This was representing the new dictatorship with the army backing his every order. He was so strict with closing everything for good. Also, he pushed education on both boys and girls just to learn how to read the bible.
  • In the year 1658 Cromwell dies and the Puritans begin to loose their grip on government. They decided to restore the monarchy and bring in Charles II. He made everyone happy by restoring the church, opening the theaters, and allowed religious tolerance. Charles is a great patron of education and the arts.
