  • Why do you even believe in Islam? It's so full of hate. Don't you see all of the violence on the news?
  • Salim! Don't you agree? All we see in the news is violence.
  • What's true is that we only see the violence. Not the beauty. But, it is the beauty that is far greater. Why don't we have a chat about it tomorrow?
  • This is Salim. Salim is a grade 12 Muslim student who lives in Toronto. He is very kind and friendly. He loves interacting with new people and he loves helping people who are in need. He lives his life based on the beautiful guidance of the Qur'an where he has learned of the magic to Allah's creation and how everything on this world must be taken care of.
  • So... now do you understand. Islam isn't anything about violence. Instead, it is about kindness, respect, love... no matter who you are, where you're from, what you do, as a Muslim, my duty is to treat you with the utmost care. We believe that Allah created everyone for a reason, and that it is our duty to leave the world in a better place.
  • Yesterday, while he was at school, Salim overheard a boy named Michael telling a girl named Salima that her religion, Islam, is a religion of hate and violence.
  • I am really glad that we had this talk. I learned a lot from it. Even the way that you talked to me... it was with peace and not anger. Even though I didn't treat your religion with respect, you didn't treat me any differently.
  • He confronted Michael and told him that they should have a peaceful conversation to talk about it.
  • The next day, Salim and Michael have their conversation.
  • Micheal is impressed by the conversation.
  • Just like Nabi Musa taught him, Salim used peaceful negotiation to stick up for his faith.
