  • The compromise of 1850 had came across the Fugitive Slave Act. It allowed officials to arrest any person caught in being a runaway slave, denied fugitives the right ti a trial, and it required all citizens to catch runaway slaves they see.
  • Dred Scott Decision of 1857
  • Hi! I am Dred Scott!
  • Uncle Tom was an enslaved person and was firm in his beliefs. Northerners developed more protests against the Fugitive Slave Act. Southerners condemned the book and it was false of the slavery in their way.
  • Harpers' Ferry of 1859
  • The Kansas Nebraska Act sent the nation into a Civil War. The act had allowed slavery to be continued in the areas containing the Louisiana Purchase. All of this madness shifted to overland.
  • Election of 1860

  • The Dred Scott decision was abolitionists who saw the supreme court as a way to stop the debate about slavery in the territories. African Americans who had ancestors as slaves or they were slaves themselves, they had no legal view in the court.
  • Harpers Ferry was the target of an assault by an armed band of abolitionists led by John Brown. The raid was intended for a first stage in an elaborate plan to establish and independent stronghold for the freed slaves in Maryland and Virginia.
  • Election of 1860 was when Abraham Lincoln was elected President. The election had demonstrated the divines with the U.S. before the war. There was a struggle with northern and southern states.
