- A fight breaks out as the servants start making fun of one another. The prince interrupts and warns the crowd that continuing would result in their deaths.
- Act 1 Scene 1
- Paris and Capulet talk about Paris' intention to wed Juliet. Paris is anxious to marry, but Capulet feels that his daughter is too young to do so. Capulet suggests that during the customary masquerade feast, Paris should strive to win Juliet's affection.
- Act 1 Scene 2
- Act 1 Scene 3
- Lady Capulet asks the nurse to help her locate her daughter at the Capulet residence. Juliet, Lady Capulet, and the nurse debate whether or not Juliet is prepared for marriage. According to Lady Capulet, Juliet should fall in love with Paris. Juliet will only think about Paris and nothing else, even if she cannot immediately accept his love.
- Act 1 Scene 4
- Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio attend the annual masquerade feast hosted by the Capulets.
- Act 1 Scene 5
- Romeo notices Juliet from another side of the room. In a moment, he loses all feelings for Rosaline and becomes madly in love with Juliet. They kiss and start talking after that.
- Act 2 Scene 1
- Romeo makes the decision that he must search for Juliet. He scales a barrier to enter the Capulet orchard. The window above the location where Romeo is standing is where Juliet first arrives. They again profess their love for one another before leaving.
