- Ukraine gains independence from the USSR after the loss of the cold war. Citizens took a vote to decide whether they should leave the USSR ad about 90% opted for independence in 1991.

- Ukraine trades Russia their nukes with agreement with the US, UK, and Russia in exchange for respect and sovereignty. Which in the end, only gave up the main weapon for their defense against Russia's annexation in the future.

- Russia takes accountability by allowing citizens of Crimea to become eligible for Russian passports which some are happy to receive. However, their relationship with Ukraine worsens
