  • Across America..New superheroes are setting and breaking records! They are.. The women aviators!
  • Yeah!
  • Even though we are women, we can do anything a man can!!!
  • First 
  • Women did not have as many rights as men in America. They were under the impression that they needed to do housework all day. Women in aviation had to work hard for their rights as many flight schools refused to allow them to become pilots.
  • I'm the first female to fly at night!!
  • One famous female aviator was Amelia Earhart. She supported women in engineering and aeronaut fields her whole life. She also was the president of the Ninety-Nines. The Ninety-Nines was a group of female pilots.
  • I earned my gliders license!!
  • Two other female aviators were Bessie Coleman and Harriet Quimby. Bessie Coleman received the first pilots license given to an African American. Harriet Quimby was the first licensed female pilot of the United States.

  • Ruth Law was the first female to fly at night. She also set records while on a flight from Chicago to New York.
  • The first woman to earn a gliders license in the United States was Anne Morrow Lindbergh.
  • All these women had to face obstacles while trying to fly. At the time women had many duties at home, church, and in the community while having very few rights. They could not vote, own property, or make contracts. Women in aviation proved that a woman can do anything that a man can. They were real life superheroes.
