  • In order to not shake the man's faith in god, the postmaster decided to help him. He knew that he'd need something more than goodwill, ink and paper. He asked for money from his employees and he himself gave a part of his salary and several of his friends were obliged to give some money 'for an act of charity'. It was impossible for him to get 100 pesos but he managed to get a little more than half of the amount.
  • God,If you don't help me, my family and I will go hungry this year. I need a hundred pesos in order to sow my field again and to live until the crops come, because the hailstorm..........
  • What faith! I wish I had the faith of the man who wrote this letter. Starting up a correspondence with God!
  • The following Sunday, Lencho came earlier than usual to check if he had gotten any letters. Upon receiving a letter from the postman, he opened it to count the money. He found out that he had only received 70 pesos, he became angry thinking that the post office workers must've done something. He wrote another letter to god asking him to send the balancing amount and to find another method to send the money as the post office people were crooks.

  • God: Of the money that I asked for, only seventy pesos reached me. Send me the rest, since I need it very much. But don't send it to me through the mail because the post office employees are a bunch of crooks.Lencho
  • On his way to mail the letter, he overheard two of the post office workers talking about how the postmaster had decided to help him out. Upon hearing that, Lencho was shocked and filled with gratitude. He realised that God must've chosen the postmaster to represent God and sent the money. He internally berated himself for thinking bad of the employees and the postmaster and wrote another letter to send, thanking the post master for his help.
  • God must've chosen the postmaster to help me. I shall thank him for doing this.
