- The farmers, led by Jones, come to recapture Animal Farm.
- The pigeons and geese create disorder by flying over their heads and pecking at them. The farmers easily ward them off with their sticks.

- Snowball, Muriel, Benjamin, and the sheep attack until Snowball, who had planned their defense, calls for retreat.
