- You could try approaching the one who is disturbing others, in a private conversation and let them know how their actions are disturbing you. This gives that person a sense that you are respecting them. The next time, ask politely yet firmly, in the common chat to please keep the chat quiet as it is disturbing. If that too does not work, then please raise it up with the teacher face to face. You are entitled to a quiet study time so it is alright to approach this is a respectful manner, standing up for what you need.
- Rita: Okay. I understand
- Ms. Sophia: Now, not girly but a boy. Because you are in the debate team?
- Rita: Yes, they think only boys can debate; girls only can laugh and talk!
- Sophia: Okay, don’t you have a Inter House Debate Competition coming up? Why don’t you prepare hard for it and then, show them your true skills on stage?!
- Rita: I Guess, I could do that. I really do enjoy debating and don’t want to back out of it.
- Sophia: And finally, Kill 2 birds with stone! The same solution to the Girly one tag. You are a girl andyou are a proud one! Let your actions, skills and confidence do the talking. Arguing with them or feelingmiserable about it will only dampen your spirits. Actions speak louder than words!
- Rita: Yess! That is a fantastic idea! Thank you, Ms.Sophia
- Rita: Ummm, yes. However, that is only because I want to show the kids in school that I am like themand that I too can buy the things that they have.
- Ms. Sophia: Rita, A little bird told me that you have been shopping a lot online, that too without yourparents’ consent.
- Rita: Yes yes, I know. I am sorry. I should have been more careful but I just let my emotions get thebetter of me. You are right, I can see this thing from a different perspective now and I can definitely pullthings up for myself.
- Ms. Sophia: Firstly, You are not like them! You are perfect the way you are and with what you have. Do not follow their ways and forget your roots and personality. Better yet, stay grounded as that will boost your confidence and take you further. Secondly, You have been texting lots of unknown people because of your excess shopping, this can lead to serious issues. You know that, right?
