Storyboard Text

  • After the teacher has made her concerns clear and the parent shared them and understood the situation, it is important that the teacher gives hope and comfort. Involving the student is a great approach in helping him because he is the most important party in this situation and having him on board is key in the success of the plan to help him improve.
  • It is a little worrying, but I believe in Ali's potential and I am confident that we can help him overcome this difficult phase. Let's work together and most importantly find out what is wrong so we can help him. How about we bring him in and talk to him?
  • That sounds like a great idea!
  • Finding out the reason behind the problem and the decline in the student performance is the first step towards helping him and that starts with listening to the student and finding out what he thinks is going on and how he's feeling. Involving the student helps them understand and become aware of the gravity of the situation and thus feel responsible and play an active role in solving the problem.
  • Uhm.. Yes...A little bit..
  • I don't know. I've been feeling overwhelmed lately. Maybe it's because I've been trying so hard to do so much like soccer practice and the art classes and my normal subjects and English has been harder for me lately.
  • But, why Ali? This isn't you. You were so much better. What is happening?
  • Hi Ali. You're probably confused about this meeting. Your mother and I are worried about you. Have you noticed how your grades have been dropping?
  • Okay, how about we set a plan together? We'll set some goals and see how you, Ali, can get back on track with any help and guidance you need from us.
  • The teacher will work on providing solutions and setting a plan with the parent and student. Having everyone part of the plan setting is helpful in getting all parties on board and making sure they agree with it which is a guarantee for its success.
  • I like that. Sounds like a plan.
  • What do you think, Ali?
