  • Proclamation of 1763
  • Okay, sounds like a plan.
  • Let's just ignore the proclamation and settle west of the line.
  • Sugar and Stamp Act
  • How will we pay for this war?
  • I have a idea, we will tax the colonists.
  • "No Taxation Without Representation"
  • We should have a say in the taxes we pay!
  • Too bad!
  • The Proclamation of 1763 was a imaginary line that was along the Appalachian Mountains, colonists were not allowed to settle west of the line. Britain sent troops to enforce this but many colonists ignored The Proclamation.
  • Townshend Act/Reaction
  • We shall boycott the British goods.
  • Let's do it!
  • For the Sugar and Stamp Act Britain didn't know how to pay off the money for the war. So they made colonists pay taxes for every paper and the sugar act raised a tax on molasses.
  • Boston Massacre
  • Fire!
  • In No Taxation Without Representation the colonists were furious because they didn't have a say in the taxes they paid. They referenced the Magna Carta claiming representation. In 1766 Parliament then repealed the Stamp Act.
  • Boston Tea Party
  • Hurry and dump more tea!

  • The Townshend Act was a bunch of new taxes which helped cut down on smuggling and gave officials the ability to search anywhere. The colonists protested the Townshend Act and eventually formed groups like the Sons of Liberty and Daughters of Liberty who would plan boycotts and other things.
  • In the Boston Massacre a group of Bostonian's started shouting at the British soldiers, the group of Bostonian's started throwing things at the soldiers. The soldiers started to panic and they fired into the crowd of people.
  • Stop controlling us!
  • The Boston Tea Party was when at night angry colonists dressed up as Native Americans. They boarded three ships and dumped chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
