  • The Indus valley civilization could read and write and had a language of writing that we started to De-code and translate.Although, there are between 250 and 500 characters and we still can not read alot of them.
  • The second major river (The Ghaddar) was also important to the people the Indus valley civilization. However, this dried up in about 2,000 BC. Today this river re-emerges after the monsoon rains.
  • Indus civilization, also called Indus valley civilization or Harappan civilization, the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent. The nuclear dates of the civilization appear to be about 2500–1700 bce, though the southern sites may have lasted later into the 2nd millennium bce.
  • The Indus River Valley Civilization, also known as Harappan civilization, developed the first accurate system of standardized weights and measures, some as accurate as to 1.6 mm. Harappans created sculpture, seals, pottery, and jewelry from materials, such as terracotta, metal, and stone.
  • First recorded note of the ruins of the civilization was made by a British army deserter. It is the largest of the four great ancient civilizations and probably the oldest. Indus Valley cities were engineering masterpieces of the time.
  • Many historians believe the Indus civilisation collapsed because of changes to the geography and climate of the area. Movements in the Earth's crust (the outside layer) might have caused the Indus river to flood and change its direction.
