Scene 3: Setting the Bar High
Of course Kid! Il'l always try and be the best father I can be. It's what I wish I had growing up.
Thanks for always being at every practice and game dad!
Kevin is someone who has always dreamed of becoming a dad. He takes great pride in his ROLE of being a father and all of the feelings and actions that come with this role.
Scene 4: Stress is Catching Up to Kevin
If you don't finish the paper work by tonight, I'm gonna replace you!
On top of being a dad, Kevin has the ROLE of being a top employee at work and a soccer coach for his kid. Both of Kevins ROLES come with expectations and actions to fit this status.
Scene 4: Importance of Socialization
Kevin has expectations for his position as dad. Since his own father wasn't around much for him, Kevin has high standards about what should be expected from him. This is known as ROLE MAKING.
Scene 6: Don't Want to Disappoint (next scenes on other pdf)
You should really get to bed, it's getting late.
I need to finish this paper work or my boss will kill me. I still have to work on some of the game plays before tomorrows game. If I don't finish that, what will the other dads think of me?!
Kevin is experiencing ROLE CONFLICT, work and coaching are starting to catch up to him. Both positions are demanding different roles of him.
Im sorry but I can't, I have to make it to my kids soccer game tonight
Kevin is feeling the pressure, but he also see's how rewarding and important it is for his child to get SOCIAL INTERACTION, face-to-face with other kids on the team. SOCIALIZATION allows for his child to learn how to function in social life and develop an awareness of themselves as they interact with others.
Of course son
Can my friend come over after practice dad?
Thanks coach!
At this point, Kevin is experiencing ROLE PLAYING. ROLE PLAYING involves conforming to existing performance expectations. He is struggling to find balance between himself and fitting into the expectation expected from him as an employee, coach, and dad.
