- Santiago arrives in Egypt to find his Personal Legend and is amazed by his new environment. Not knowing anything about this foreign land he asks for help and is scammed by his new friend. He was not discouraged but kept on trying to fulfill his Personal Legend.
- I have to earn money so I can start all over again.
- While Santiago was wandering around the desert, he ran into a merchant. He explained what had happened to him and the merchant offered him a job. Santiago agreed to take the job cause of his desperate need for money.
- I got scammed and now I am broke. I need a job really badly.
- Would you like to come work for me I am a merchant?
- What is a boy like you doing here in the middle of the desert?
- Santiago was discouraged by the merchant when the merchant said that he will not get enough money to get to Egypt. He gave up and began to work for the merchant so he could go back as living as a shepherd.
- Hey would you still want to work for me even though you cannot make it to Egypt?
- I guess yea. I think I will work for you until I get enoguh money to buy sheep.
