- In the middle of these cities there was always a Ziggarut (temple), market place, and government buildings.

- The cities went to war agents each other many times, sometimes for no real reason. This is when kings started, and they started writing on clay too.
- 2300 BCE
- This is when the first emperor became the emperor, this was called Unification, his name was Sargon I.

- People started to form laws they were called,Hammurabi. They were meant to keep peace and order and were very strict, you were in BIG trouble if you broke one of them.
- 1700 BCE
- People made a poem called Gilgamesh. This was the first written record ever!
