- Britain was in large debt because of the French and Indian war and they had to get a way to pay of their debt. England thought this was right because the dept was from the war, and they used the money to protect the citizens.
- Have you seen how Britain has been taxing us? Just because they're in dept doesn't mean they should use it on us!
- Yes, they're making the excuse that it was for the war that they were in dept, and the weapons were to protect us.
- In 765 the government taxed the citizens on ever piece of paper like newspapers and other paper used items, this was known as the Stamp Act. In 1767 the government more and started taxing people on essentials and this was known as the Townshend Acts.
- That is what I thought, we need to do something about this!
- Now they start taxing us on things we need in our daily lives? This is out of our control!
- On March 5, 1770 , when the colonists were protesting in the streets of Britain , they were protesting about the laws. According to History 2021 "To protest taxes, patriots often vandalized stores selling British goods and intimidated store merchants and their customers. " Which eventually broke out in a fight between workers and soldiers.

- But in December 16, 1773 when the colonists had enough they dumped about 342 crates of tea into Boston Harbor. According to History.com "Imported from the British East India Company into harbor. The event was the first major act of defiance to British rule over the colonists"
