  • You see, Manolin...I am the most unluckiest in the world. When am I going to get a fish again?
  • Don't worry Uncle Santiago. Hopefully you will get one tomorrow.
  • Scene 2
  • I am truly unlucky, I have been fishing for an hour and still haven't got anything. Oh God what did I do to deserve this!
  • Scene 3
  • Oh God, A marlin? Thank you Lord... How can I thank you for this! I am no longer a salao!!!
  • It has been 84 days scince Santiago caught a fish. People consider him as an unluck person. He is talking to Manolin about his greif and sadness. He is going to the Gulf street in the north of Cuba, in the straits of Florida to fish.

  • ughhhh, that was tough job!
  • It has been an hour but hasn't got anything yet. He continues to try till the rest of the evening.

  • By the evening , a big fish caught his bait. It was huge. He was convinced that it was a marlin. He thanked God for this and thought he was no longer unlucky....
  • Scene 6
  • I am so happy!
  • With great difficulty he tied the marlin to the boat. He was heading back happily... 
  • When he was heading back, great make sharks followed him and his boat and ate up all of the marlins carcuss. This made Santiago very upset.
  • When Santiago came back he was suprised to see everyone. They were surprised to see that he caught a marlin (skeleton) and reggretted calling him a salao. Santiago was happy ever after.
