- An angel of the Lord came to the wife of Manoah and said to her: "Though you are barren and have no children, you will not conceive and bear a son. Now then, be careful to drink no wine or beer and to eat nothing unclean."
- The woman had a son and named him Samson.

- Samson gave his thirty companions a riddle and gave them seven days to solve it . On the fourth day they went to Samson's wife and threatened her to tell them the answer to the riddle.
- Samson took the fresh jaw bone of a donkey he reached it out, and with it he killed a thousand men.
- He fell in love with a woman in the Wadi Sorek whose name was Delilah.
